PSA: Path of Exile Open Beta starts 1/23 4:00pm est! Join me! F2P!

I have tried Path of Exile closed beta last night with NotmeyouFool. This game reminds me of Diablo 2 with current graphic. By the time that you read this, open beta is probably out and I am here to guide you to your quest!

What: Path of Exile

When: 1/23 4:00pm est Open Beta begins

Cost: Free 2 Play. The game has microtranscation but only for pets and customization. Can’t buy items with real money

Play Style: Top down Dungeon crawler aka Diablo style

How is it different from Diablo: No in game currency, no skills tree, extremely large passive tree

Classes:  Marauder, Ranger, Witch, Shadow, Templar, Duelist.

Super simple beginners guide for open beta:

Before you begin the game:

1. Read up what class you want to play, then research it. The passive skill tree is HUGE and close to no respec. So don’t mess it up!

2. After you read on the forum and google what build you want to play, it’s time to dig in! Make sure you read about all the different leagues first. (League = server)

3. Start the game by choosing “HARDCORE” mode. When you die in Hardcore, you will automatically re spawn ,without losing your character, back to “default” league, where the “main server” is at. So therefore there is no penalty of trying hardcore, and you do get to bring hardcore items into default league.

You Started the game:

Once you first start the game, go to option, check “Corner Map” and “Always Highlight”

There is no “back to town” button like D3. You need scrolls. Scrolls are everything in the game, aka currency. You trade items with vendors to get different scrolls, and you buy items from vendors using scrolls.

HP and Mana will automatic regen. Your flask will automatically regen as you are in combat.

Your “active ability skills” are from gems which you can equip to items. Once you get a better item, you can simply right click the gem and put it into the new item. Gems lvl up as you use the skills.

Be ware of loots. if you are in a group with random people you don’t know, Loot drops are free for all. If the item is rare+, then the item will have a char name next to it and only they are pick it up. HOWEVER, they only have 2-3 sec to pick it up or the item will go back to free for all.
